Paper Lanterns

February 2018

I could be pretending I took these somewhere in Japan, but I'd be lying. These, I believe, are physales. Oh, and I took some shots of an apple as well.

Now, coming back to the unrelated, irrelevant and rather futile topic of plurals, what would the plural of “physalis” be? Because if I was fairly confident with my theory leading to “phalaenopses,” “physales” doesn't sound quite as right, for some reason. Come to think of it, I seem to recall an obscure Latin grammar rule whereby “physalis” falls under 12th declension, and its plural form is therefore “paper lanterns”.
