Beijing, a gigantic, fascinating city full of contrasts, historical marks and shabby-looking restaurants which by far serve the best food you could hope for.

What's most striking about Beijing is how much it looks like an ordinary European city – only an order of magnitude larger. And breakfast is different too. And the power infrastructure more cavalier. And they all drive either German luxury cars or rickshaws. Language is somewhat different too.

All right, then, it's rather different from an ordinary European city.
